Tuesday, November 21st The Day I was Shot in the Philippines Mr. Carl Bove' was among the first draftees called up in 1943 when the draft board started calling up men between 18 and 20 years of age. He was trained as a parachute infantryman and served in the Pacific fighting areas of New Guinea and the Philippines at Leyte and Luzon. On March 15, 1945 while leading an attack on a Japanese fortified position, Carl took a hit in the chest that would have killed him except for the prompt medical attention provided. The next eight months were spent in the hospital, during which time the war in the Pacific ended.
